User Preferences Overview

Preferences contain some basic configuration settings that control the look and feel of the scheduling grid for each individual user. Example settings include anything from the size of the scheduling cell on the grid, to the Display Fields that are used, or the layout of the grid elements and the patient search preferences. Preference settings are saved as part of the individual user's profiles not the machine on which the Preferences have been configured. Each time a user logs into the program, therefore, she will experience a consistent look and feel that corresponds to her individual and scheduling needs.

NOTE – Keep in mind that administrators can restrict who has the rights to modify Preferences as needed. For example, an organization may require the same general look throughout. In these cases, the administrator can create a user who has the desired settings and apply them to all users of the same type.

To navigate to Preferences, do either of the following:

  1. Click the Presets and Preferences icon on the scheduling grid and then select Grid Preferences from side menu.
  2. Click the Preferences link in the top right corner of the grid.

Preferences are categorized a side menu and include the following options:

Some of these options simply depend on what the user wants. Other options, however, are scheduling tools that can be used to differentiate doctors or domains (e.g., page names, appointment color, grid display fields, etc.) on the scheduling grid. Administrators may want to create a consistent look and feel for the program where some of these are concerned.

NOTE – Careful consideration should be given the initial appearance of the program during the initial configuration. In general, access to Preferences should be examined on an individual basis. If for some reason you cannot make changes in the Preferences section with your user profile, please contact your system administrator to review your settings. Users must have the Global Right "User Preferences" set to Full in order to make changes.
