Resource Column Display Fields
Resource column display fields comprise the information that is used to identify the resources who are placed in a grid column. They are configured in much the same manner as appointment display fields wherein the system administrator chooses a set of fields that are available user, and then the users choose up to eight of those to use as column display text.
- Resource display fields are pulled from resource and domain demographics. Administrators can configure any combination of fields for use. In deciding which fields to use, administrators should take into consideration the scheduling practices of everyone using the system. Personnel and domain requirements will vary across the organization.
- The fields that the use configures are saved with the user's profile so that no matter what workstation they log into, the columns display the same fields.
- It may be more efficient for an administrator to create a user profile and copy that to additional users who share the same scheduling requirements. This will create a consistent use of column headers with which everyone will be familiar, and it will include the fields that the organization requires as a whole. As different requirements become apparent, these can be changed by users who have the appropriate rights or by their administrator.
Keep in mind that the more display fields you choose for the column headers, the larger the header will have to be to accommodate them. General practice indicates that grid real estate tends to be eaten up fairly quickly beyond three.
To configure the resource display fields in your organization:
- Select Data Maintenance > System and Security > Grid Display Fields from the Main menu. The Grid Display Fields screen will appear.
- Locate the Resource Column Display Fields panel and either:
- Double-click an Available field to add it to the Assigned list, or
- Double-click an Assigned field to remove it.
- Repeat as necessary until all the fields required for your organization have been made available.
- Click Save to commit the changes.
Key Considerations
- New installations of WellSky Resource Manager use Resource: Description as the default primary resource column display field, and in multidomain installations they use Domain: Description as the secondary display field. If you remove the defaults without replacing them with any other labels (i.e., the Assigned panel is blank), the system will continue to use Resource and Domain description by default.
