Case Notes

As you work with patients, Appointments provides three general places to preserve notes regarding their specific needs, treatment, account, etc.

Patient Notes—generalized for the patient

Case Notes—specific to the given case

Appointment Notes—specific to the given appointment

Use the Case notes to log comments or information that apply specifically to the case. Examples include generalized progress notes or treatment plan change notes etc.

To add a case note, simply

  1. Navigate to the patient demographic screens
  2. Click the Cases tab. Either
    1. Click New as part of a new patient entry
    2. Click the Edit link in the line item for the case appropriate to your current need.
  3. Click Notes tab (to the right of Case Information)
  4. Click the case Notes panel and begin typing. Add whatever is deemed appropriate for the case.
  5. Click either the:
    1. Accept button for new patients. This will temporarily store the changes you have made in case demographics until the patient is saved.
    2. Save button for existing patients. Your changes to the case will be recorded, and you will be returned to the Cases tab.
  6. Choose whether to Go to Grid after Save and then click Save on the main demographic screens to commit the changes to the patient record.
  7. To edit a note, simply use the mouse to select the text to modify and make the changes necessary. Alternatively, click the mouse in the panel where you would like to append text and begin typing.
