Appointment Diagnoses
Diagnoses are the codified descriptions of the patient’s symptoms. They can be ICD-9, ICD-10 or similar standardized codes, or they can be any set of codes an organization requires. In Appointments, diagnoses can be associated with a patient’s case or to an individual appointment. Diagnoses assigned in case demographics are listed with each appointment scheduled for that case automatically. Users can accept or delete these as appropriate for each appointment.
To assign a diagnosis at the appointment level:
- Do one of the following:
- Schedule a new appointment
- Edit an existing appointment
- Click the Diagnosis line item description. The Diagnosis Search screen will appear.
- Select a diagnosis appropriate for the current appointment.
- Repeat steps 1–3 as necessary.
- Once you have completed assigning information to the appointment, click Continue to commit you changes. Alternatively, click Cancel to abort the appointment.
If your organization or domain does not have the “Use the Edit Appointment Screen when Making Appointments” option turned on, then simply edit the appointment to which you wish to add scheduling options.
The Edit Appointment screen will appear.
To delete diagnoses from an appointment:
- Click the Delete icon next to the appropriate diagnosis. A confirmation screen will appear.
- Click OK to continue, Cancel to abort the operation.
Key Considerations
- Diagnoses that are assigned in case demographics are assigned to appointments for the case automatically and are listed before those assigned at the appointment level. This will occur only if the Edit Appointment screen is configured to appear on Make functions (i.e., "Use the Edit Appointment Screen when Making Appointments" is enabled).
- When users modify the diagnoses assigned to a case, they have the option to apply those changes to future appointments. Click the checkbox next to the following option prior to clicking Accept on the case demographic screens.
Apply Diagnosis changes to future appointments?
The option appears below the Add and Remove buttons of the Diagnosis panel.
